Join Serenity House Ottawa’s Board of Directors – Make a Difference in Addiction Recovery

Serenity House Ottawa is an inpatient treatment service is dedicated to improving the quality of life for men with substance use disorders. We use a client-centered and holistic treatment style, adapting our programs to the needs of the individuals we serve in order to promote healthy integration of mind, body, and spirit.

The Organization was established since 1969, is a client-centered organization helping people address their harmful substance use so they can live a fulfilled life. We leverage our comprehensive capabilities to deliver high-quality, innovative health and community-based programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of our community.

The Organization Board of Directors is comprised of a dedicated and diverse group of volunteers who bring professional expertise and experience from various disciplines. The Board meets at least six (6) times a year to ensure effective governance and strategic direction for the organization. Our Board does not operate with committees, as we feel that this is a crucial element when supporting the ED.

Board members meet both virtually and in person in our Ottawa Region offices, with a time commitment of approximately 1-3 hours monthly, depending on the Board schedules. This commitment ensures the Board can effectively contribute to the governance, strategic planning, and oversight necessary for the Organization to fulfill its mission and continue to provide exceptional care and support to those affected by addictions and substance use.

We are currently seeking to fill upcoming vacancies on our Board and are searching for people who are passionate about the vision, mission, and values of our organization.

Specifically, we are looking for people with experience in the following areas:

• Demonstrated professional experience or expertise in any of the following: Healthcare, Financial Management,  Fundraising, Risk Management, Human Resources and Governance.
• Lived experience and possess an understanding of/competence in issues affecting the diverse communities we serve.
• Have connection with the community.
